Nichée en bordure d’un lac et entourée d’une végétation dense, la résidence s’inscrit dans un paysage naturel où forêt et eau dialoguent étroitement. Implantée sur un terrain escarpé, elle est accessible par un chemin sinueux bordé d’enrochements et de plantations, qui accompagne la forte topographie du site jusqu’à un plateau rocheux sur lequel repose la maison.
Set along the edge of a lake and immersed in dense vegetation, the residence is embedded within a natural landscape where water and forest are in constant dialogue. The house sits on a steep site, accessed by a winding path lined with rock formations and vegetation that carefully negotiates the dramatic topography before reaching a rocky plateau that supports the building.
Inspirée d’une architecture régionaliste, la résidence combine des matériaux nobles tels que la pierre de taille, le cèdre et l’acier, assurant une intégration harmonieuse au paysage. La toiture à deux versants en acier, très visible depuis l’approche, souligne la silhouette élancée du bâtiment et s’adapte à la forme allongée du terrain.
Rooted in a regional architectural approach, the residence combines noble materials such as cut stone, cedar, and steel to ensure a strong yet subtle integration into its surroundings. The two-sloped steel roof is highly visible upon approach, emphasizing the elongated profile of the building while responding to the geometry of the terrain.
La volumétrie, compacte et monolithique en raison des contraintes du site, est allégée par des jeux de retraits, de saillies et de terrasses. Le rez-de-chaussée et le rez-de-jardin forment un socle minéral en pierre grise ancrant solidement la maison dans la roche, tandis que l’étage supérieur, habillé de cèdre rouge teint, crée une stratification de matériaux naturels qui allège l’ensemble.
Given the site constraints, the volume is compact and monolithic, yet it is softened through strategic recesses, projections, balconies, and terraces. The ground and lower levels form a mineral stone base that anchors the house to the rocky terrain, while the upper level, clad in stained red cedar, introduces a lighter layer, creating a natural stratification of materials.
L’organisation intérieure repose sur un axe central structurant, séparant les espaces de service côté accès et les espaces privés orientés vers la forêt et le lac. Les pièces de vie s’enchaînent en continuité et s’ouvrent sur une terrasse en pierre irrégulière. À l’étage, chambres et bureaux sont répartis de part et d’autre d’un couloir central, la chambre principale bénéficiant d’une terrasse avec vue panoramique. L’intérieur privilégie une palette sobre de blanc, chêne clair, béton brut et cèdre, créant une atmosphère lumineuse et cohérente, en dialogue avec les œuvres d’art intégrées à l’espace.
The interior layout is organized around a clear central axis that separates service areas near the access road from private spaces oriented toward the forest and lake. The main living areas flow in sequence and extend toward an outdoor stone terrace. Upstairs, bedrooms and offices are arranged along a central corridor, with the primary suite opening onto a terrace offering panoramic lake views. Inside, a restrained palette of white surfaces, light oak, raw concrete, and cedar establishes a calm, cohesive atmosphere designed to complement the display of the owners’ art collection.
